Cuba: el advenimiento de la “República” en el periódico La Lucha, 1902

Abstract
The establishment of the first Republic of Cuba, in may 1902, has been a topic barely addressed in contemporary cuban historiography. therefore, this article analyzes this historical juncture in the discourse of the daily newspaper La Lucha, organ directed to a bilingual audience, according to the demands of the new foreign power. We analyze the existing problems during the transition period and the start of the Republican era in Cuba and its representation in the Havana newspaper said. We consider the following proposed hemerographic, we approach the public in a segment of political and nationalist intellectuals and anti cuban americans interested in defending the independence of his country. Journalistic discourse analysis will be contrasted and complemented by documentary and bibliographic.
