Abstract

This article argues that in representative texts of the conflict for hegemony from pre and post-sandinista revolution a constitution of the subaltern peasant as “national” subject can be read. this constitution motivates literary texts, recounts of the “contra”  war and is a basic fundament of the sandinistas land reform. after the displacement  of the revolutionary government, a rewriting of these ideas comes to be visible in texts like autobiographies and political memories framed by traditional nationalism and the transition pact of the elite. this way the subaltern seems to reach just a precarious political representation.
