Inconsciente y folclore en el ensayismo de Bernardo Canal Feijóo
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyzes some essays produced by the argentine intellectual Bernardo Canal Feijóo between the late thirties and the middle fifties: Ensayo sobre la expresión popular artística en Santiago, Mitos perdidos, Burla, credo, culpa en la creación anónima y Confines de Occidente. Our paper highlights the innovative use of psychoanalysis in the interpretation of popular practices; it aims to show how, by this way, Canal Feijóo redefines the folklore as an investigation object, breaking with a long ethnocentric tradition that, in Argentina, denies the gravitation of the indigenous legacy. The article also points out some differences of Canal Feijóo with respect to other contemporary argentine essayists (as Martínez Estrada and Kusch).
