EL PATHOS TRÁGICO DE EL GENERAL EN SU LABERINTO. ENTRE LA HISTORIA Y LA EXPRESIÓN

Abstract
Este artículo se circunscribe en la polémica recepción de
El general en su laberinto que en un primer momento se inclinó por
evaluar negativamente la novela argumentando que la imagen del
prócer era dañada y que distorsionaba la verdad histórica. La respuesta
a estas opiniones fue rápida y certera: la novela es el arte de
la ficción. Incluso se dijo que a la postre la imagen novelesca de Bolívar
era más verosímil que la del culto oficial. Así se argumentó que
aquello que aparentemente denigraba a Bolívar en realidad perseguía
una simple humanización lograda al desmitificar al héroe de la
epopeya. Aquí se propone que no hay tal desmitificación, más bien
se observa que el Bolívar de García Márquez sigue nítidamente el
periplo del héroe que inicia su caída, hecho que sin duda alguna revela
el pathos trágico de la novela.
