Crónicas del suburbio en Argentina. El caso atípico de “Trópico de Villa Diego”, de Mario Castells

Abstract
La crónica urbana está presente en las letras argentinas ya desde el siglo xix, sin embargo es llamativa la ausencia de algunos enclaves de gran peso demográfico y social, como es el caso de las ciudades de periferia. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar de qué modo Mario Castells representa la ciudad de Villa Gobernador Gálvez, situada al sur de Rosario, en su Trópico de Villa Diego (2014), mediante una aproximación comparativa con otras crónicas urbanas, cuyas vertientes mayores las ofrecen la mirada del cronista foráneo o el registro periodístico sensacionalista. De este modo, se observa qué cambios opera la mirada endógena, esto es, la de un cronista que es parte de ese paisaje humano que viene a representar. Sin perder nunca el foco de la crónica de corte histórico-político, Castells hace uso de recursos que evidencian el trabajo intelectual de un grupo social al que se le niega, desde la hegemonía, esa posibilidad de intervención en la esfera de la producción discursiva y cultural.
